Woman offers to take photo of happy family enjoying ice cream. Days later she receives a chilling text message

You never know when a random good deed would prompt something more intense than you could envision

Joyce Rhinehart took her grandson to an Ice Cream Shop for a treat after his tennis lesson. As they were going to leave, she saw a pleasant looking family enjoying ice cream together.

She suddenly wanted a photo of them and asked if she could take that picture. They agreed.

She said in a Facebook post:

“I took this photo and after that gave my telephone to my girl and advised her to send the photo to their phone.”

A couple days after her encounter with the family, Joyce was astounded to get an instant message from an unknown number. She checked the message and felt chills go through her spine.

The message read:

“Dear Madam, you took our photo before Rita’s on June eighth. My wife has passed away yesterday and this is the last picture we have together as a family. My family and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts, it means everything to us. Thank you very much!”

Joyce stayed in contact with their dad afterwards and discovered that his wife had been sick for a year.

In her post, she wrote:

“Never underestimate a random act of kindness. My heart is heavy for this sweet family that I don’t know and the enormous blessing that was left to them since I listened to my gut that day. I’m in awe!”
