River ripples violently after man throws water in it, but it’s not what you think

Maria McCormick shot this video of a weird event as her husband Scott was throwing water from their boat into the St. John’s River in Volusia County, Florida. A gigantic storm just passed the night before, so every time the spouse would toss the water out, the river would ripple furiously, as though some sort of otherworldly ocean creature was living there.

“My husband was throwing water out of our boat after a huge storm. Each time he tossed the water we saw furious movement in the water. I happened to record on one of the tosses and we saw huge splashes of water all around. We both look at each other and said ‘I will never swim in there again!'” Maria said after what they have seen.

The Internet users however are not awed. The huge and frightening splashes in the water was actually a pack of manatees and now McCormack and her husband are facing up to 60 days in jail for alleged animal endangerment and cruelty.

You may call them sea cows or even mermaids, but manatees are the most delicate animals on the planet. They can be found everywhere throughout the coast of Florida, where you can kayak close by them.
