A 16-year-old high school junior turned into the main female quarterback from her school, and perhaps in the territory of Florida, to throw a touchdown pass in a game.
Holly Neher, of Hollywood Hills High School in South Florida, tossed a 42-yard touchdown pass Thursday in the final quarter of her group’s 21-7 loss to Hallandale High School.
Holly, the only girl on her school’s 50-people varsity group, was playing in her first varsity match and threw the touchdown on her first pass attempt.
A representative for the Florida High School Athletic Associate (FHSAA) revealed to ABC News the association is not ready to affirm that Holly was the only female secondary school player in the state to throw a touchdown pass however “believes it could be” a first.
Holly is just the second young lady in the 51-year history of her 2,000-student high school to play on the varsity football team, as per Erin Brown, the school’s assistant principal.
